Installation
Step 1: Access the Installation Page
Visit the Notiwise installation page:
- Direct Link: Install Notiwise
Step 2: Authorize Notiwise
- Click “Authorize access”
- Select your Google account (work or personal)
- Review the permissions Notiwise requests:
- Calendar read/write: To add smart reminders to your events
- Script storage: To save your preferences (tags, calendars, reminder times)
- User email: To identify your account
- Click “Allow” to grant permissions
Why these permissions? Notiwise needs to read your calendar events to find priority tags, add reminders, and save your settings. All data stays in your Google account - Notiwise doesn’t use external servers.
Step 3: Verify Installation
After authorization, you should see a welcome screen. Installation complete!
Having trouble? See the Installation Guide for detailed troubleshooting.
Complete Onboarding
After installation, Notiwise walks you through a 4-step onboarding process. Let’s configure everything!
Step 1: Select Calendars to Monitor
Choose which calendars Notiwise should watch for priority tags.

What to Select:
✅ Recommended:
- Your primary Google Calendar
- Work calendar (if you have a separate one)
- Any shared calendars where you manage events
⚠️ Consider Carefully:
- Subscription calendars (holidays, sports) - usually don’t need priority tags
- Calendars with MANY events - may slow processing
❌ Skip:
- Read-only calendars (Notiwise can’t add reminders)
- Other people’s calendars (unless shared with edit access)
How to Select:
- Check the box next to each calendar you want to monitor
- You’ll see a preview of upcoming events from that calendar
- Select as many as you need (no limit!)
- Click “Save Configuration” to proceed
💡 Tip: You can change calendar selection anytime in settings.
Step 2: Configure Priority Tags
Define the tags you’ll use to mark event priorities.

Default Tags (Recommended for Beginners):
| Priority Level | Default Tag | Description |
|---|---|---|
| High Major | @@ |
Critical meetings, major deadlines |
| High Moderate | @ |
Important meetings, project milestones |
| Medium Prep | !! |
Events needing preparation |
| Medium Minimal | ! |
Regular team meetings |
| Low Some Prep | ## |
Casual meetings, follow-ups |
| Low Minimal | # |
Optional events, low priority |
Custom Tags (Advanced):
Want to use different symbols? You can customize any tag!
Popular Alternatives:
- Text-based:
URGENT,HIGH,MEDIUM,LOW - Emojis: 🔴, 🟠, 🟡, 🟢 (more visual in calendar)
- Numbers:
P1,P2,P3,P4(project management style) - Asterisks:
***,**,*(simpler)
How to Customize:
- Click on any tag field
- Type your custom tag (e.g., replace
@@with***) - Repeat for all 6 priority levels
- Click “Save Configuration”
⚠️ Important Notes:
- Tags are case-sensitive:
@@≠@@ - Each tag must be unique
- Special characters work:
@,!,#,*, emojis, etc. - Avoid common words that might appear in event titles
💡 Tip: Stick with default tags for your first week, then customize if needed.
Step 3: Choose Tag Location
NEW in v2.1.0: Decide where tags appear in your events.
Option A: Tags in Event Title (Traditional)
Example: Team Meeting @@
Pros:
- Easy to see priority in calendar grid view
- Quick to add when creating events
- Traditional method (most users familiar)
Cons:
- Tags visible to other attendees
- Can clutter event titles
- Looks less professional in shared calendars
Option B: Tags in Event Description (Hidden)
Example:
- Title:
Team Meeting - Description:
Discuss Q4 goals @@
Pros:
- Keeps event titles clean and professional
- Tags hidden from calendar grid view
- Better for shared calendars with external attendees
- More discreet priority management
Cons:
- Slightly less visible (need to open event to see tag)
- Extra step to add tag in description
Option C: Both (Flexible)
Check both boxes to let Notiwise find tags in EITHER location.
How it works:
- Notiwise checks title first, then description
- Only the first tag found is processed
- Tag is removed from wherever it’s found
💡 Recommended: Use Option B (Description only) for professional shared calendars, Option A (Title) for personal calendars, Option C (Both) if you’re not sure yet.
Step 4: Set Custom Reminder Times
Configure when you want to receive reminders based on priority level.

Default Reminder Times:
| Priority Level | Reminder Time | Why This Time? |
|---|---|---|
| High Priority | 7:30 AM (Morning) | Critical events need early attention |
| Medium Priority | 11:30 AM (Midday) | Check in before lunch |
| Low Priority | 4:30 PM (Afternoon) | End-of-day review |
Customize for Your Schedule:
When to customize:
- You start work early/late (e.g., 6 AM start → 6:30 AM reminder)
- Different timezone preferences
- Team meeting schedules (e.g., 9 AM team standup → 8:30 AM reminder)
How to customize:
- Click on the time field for each priority level
- Enter time in 24-hour format (e.g., 08:00 for 8 AM, 16:30 for 4:30 PM)
- Times apply to ALL events with that priority
- Click “Save Configuration”
Examples:
- Early riser:
06:30, 11:00, 15:30 - Night owl:
10:00, 14:00, 18:00 - Busy afternoon:
07:00, 12:00, 17:30
💡 Tip: Use your natural energy peaks. Review important items when you’re most alert!
Step 5: Complete Setup
After configuring all 4 steps, click “Save All Settings”.

You’ll see a success confirmation!
Notiwise is now fully configured and ready to use.

Tag Usage Tips
✅ DO:
- Be consistent with similar events (all standups get
!, all board meetings get@@) - Tag events as soon as you create them
- Review your calendar weekly to add missing tags
- Use higher priority sparingly (too many
@@defeats the purpose)
❌ DON’T:
- Tag every event (leave routine, unchanging events alone)
- Use the same priority for everything
- Add multiple tags to one event (Notiwise uses only the first found)
- Forget to tag important events (defeats the purpose!)
Calendar Organization
Multi-Calendar Strategy:
- Work Calendar: Use for professional events, higher priorities
- Personal Calendar: Use for personal events, lower priorities
- Shared Calendars: Consider using description tags (keeps titles clean)
Recurring Events:
- Tag the first occurrence, then Notiwise processes each recurrence
- Or tag individual occurrences if priority changes
